Come, give me my cup to drink, and leave alone whoever refuses.

And slake the thirst of bones whose end is decay.

For my drinking companion is, without doubt, honored

By me, and with me he has whatever he desires and chooses.

And I do not say to him, over what remains in the cup,

'Sip!'—to lay him low with drunkenness—when he has already refused.

But I greet him and honor his face,

And I drink what remains and give him whatever he desires.
