And I told him, "Stand on the high ground, and answer."
فَجاءَso he came خَفيَّfaint الصَوتِthe voice قَدalready مَسَّهُhad afflicted him الضَوىemaciation
بِضَربَةِwith a blow مَسنونِsharpened الغَرارَينِthe two cutting edges قاضِبِcleaving
So he came, faint of voice; wasting had struck him
with the blow of a cleaving sword sharpened on both edges.
فَرَحَّبتُso I welcomed واستَبشَرتُand I rejoiced حَتّىuntil بَسَطتُهُI put him at ease
وَتِلكَand that الَّتيwhich أَلقىI meet بِهاwith it كُلَّevery آئِبِreturning traveler
So I welcomed him and rejoiced, until I put him at ease.
And that is how I greet every returning traveler.
