قَومٌ لَهُم شَرَفُ الدُنيا وَسؤدُدها

صَفوٌ عَلى الناسِ لَم يُخلَط بِهِم رَنَقُ

صَفوٌ عَلى الناسِ لَم يُخلَط بِهِم رَنَقُ

A people who possess the world's honor and its sovereign glory,

A people who possess the world's honor and its eminence.

The purest among mankind, with no trace of murk mixed into them.

The purest among people, with no murk mingled in them.

إِن حارَبوا وَضَعوا أَو سالَموا رَفَعوا

إِن حارَبوا وَضَعوا أَو سالَموا رَفَعوا

أَو عاقَدوا ضمنوا أَو حَدَّثوا صَدَقوا

أَو عاقَدوا ضمنوا أَو حَدَّثوا صَدَقوا

If they wage war, they lay their foes low; if they make peace, they raise others high.

If they wage war, they bring low; or if they make peace, they raise high.

If they make a covenant, they stand surety; if they speak, they speak true.

Or if they make a pact, they stand by it; or if they speak, they speak the truth.
