لمّا وَثِقتُ وَخُنتَني

لمّا وَثِقتُ وَخُنتَني

فاظَت لِذاكَ النَّفسُ فَيظا

فاظَت لِذاكَ النَّفسُ فَيظا

When I trusted you and you betrayed me,

When you betrayed me after I trusted you

my soul departed in death because of that.

My soul swelled in anger at that

وَإِذا وفيتَ لمن يَفي

وَإِذا وفيتَ لمن يَفي

لِسِواك دونَك مُتَّ غَيظا

لِسِواك دونَك مُتَّ غَيظا

And when you are faithful to one who is faithful

And when you were loyal to one who betrays

to another rather than you, you die of rage.

I became enraged at anyone other than you
