    O you of charming coquetry, be gentle with a lovesick lover

    who complains of your coldness and boredom.

    فَسِل الجسْمَ إِنْ أَرَدْتَ سُؤَالاَ

    Illness spoke of what he used to conceal;

    so ask his body if you wish to inquire.

    A phantom of you came to him in sleep,

    and it saw him, as you wished, a phantom.

    The tongues of reproach shun him because of his wasting illness,

    so he no longer knows those who reproach him.
