أَميلُ مع الذِّمام عَلى اِبن أُمّي

أَميلُ مع الذِّمام عَلى اِبن أُمّي

وَأَقضي لِلصَّديقِ عَلى الشَّقيقِ

وَأَقضي لِلصَّديقِ عَلى الشَّقيقِ

I side with the bond of loyalty against my mother's son,

I lean with the south wind upon the son of my mother

And I rule for a friend against my full brother.

And I decide for the friend over the compatriot

أُفَرِّق بَين مَعروفي وَمَنّي

أُفَرِّق بَين مَعروفي وَمَنّي

وَأَجمَعُ بَينَ مالي وَالحُقوقِ

وَأَجمَعُ بَينَ مالي وَالحُقوقِ

I separate my kindness from reminders of my favors,

I distinguish between my benefactor and my volunteer

And I join my wealth with what is rightfully due.

And I bring together my money and rights

وَإِمّا تُلفِني حُرّاً مُطاعا

وَإِمّا تُلفِني حُرّاً مُطاعا

فَإِنَّك واجِدي عَبدَ الصَّديقِ

فَإِنَّك واجِدي عَبدَ الصَّديقِ

And if you find me free and obeyed,

And if you meet me a free man, obeyed

Then you will find me a slave to a friend.

Then you will find me a loyal slave
