وَلكِنّ عَبد اللَّهِ لما حَوى الغنى

وَلكِنّ عَبد اللَّهِ لما حَوى الغنى

وَصارَ لَهُ من دونِ إِخوَتِهِ مال

وَصارَ لَهُ من دونِ إِخوَتِهِ مال

But when Abd Allah came into wealth,

But Abdullah, when he amassed wealth

and had riches that his brothers did not,

And had, unlike his brothers, goods to spare,

رَأى خلّة مِنهُم تُسَدّ بِمالِه

رَأى خلّة مِنهُم تُسَدّ بِمالِه

فَساهَمَهُم حَتّى اِستَوَت بِهِم الحال

فَساهَمَهُم حَتّى اِستَوَت بِهِم الحال

he saw a need among them that his wealth could meet,

Saw that this wealth could fill his brothers' lack,

so he shared with them until their circumstances were equal.

So shared with them, till all on equal fare.
