وَإِذا امرؤ كَنَفَت بِه آباؤُه

وَإِذا امرؤ كَنَفَت بِه آباؤُه

كَنَفتك وَاكتَنَفت بِكَ الآباء

كَنَفتك وَاكتَنَفت بِكَ الآباء

And when a man's forefathers shelter him,

When a man is surrounded by his forefathers

Your forefathers shelter you and find shelter in you.

You are surrounded, and the forefathers surround you.

وَوَضعتَ نَفسَكَ مِن قَديم فَعالِهِم

وَوَضعتَ نَفسَكَ مِن قَديم فَعالِهِم

وَمَناقِبٍ لَكَ حيثُ شِئتَ وَشاءوا

وَمَناقِبٍ لَكَ حيثُ شِئتَ وَشاءوا

And you have placed yourself, through their deeds of old

And you have made yourself, since ancient times, their heir,

And virtues of your own, wherever you and they wished.

With virtues for you, wherever you and they have willed.
