This stranger, who made Damascus weep and had

met his death amid separation on his journeys,

left the noble family of Qalawuz a sorrow

that forever meets an eye streaming tears.

He went to his Lord, the All-Forgiving, taking

from his paths far from home, paths toward the heights.

So if you leave his peer, O you who chronicle him,

write: “God called Ibrahim, and he obeyed.”
