لِفَتى بَنِي العَبسيِّ أَكرَمَ مَضجَعٍ

لِفَتى بَنِي العَبسيِّ أَكرَمَ مَضجَعٍ

قَد ضَمَّ مِنهُ عِظامَ خَيرِ كَريمِ

قَد ضَمَّ مِنهُ عِظامَ خَيرِ كَريمِ

The noblest resting place for the youth of Banu al-‘Absi

For a youth of Bani Abs, the noblest resting place,

Has embraced his bones, those of the best of generous men.

Within it are gathered the bones of the best generous man.

هُوَ مَقدِسٌ أَمسى يُقامُ بِهِ الدُّعا

هُوَ مَقدِسٌ أَمسى يُقامُ بِهِ الدُّعا

عَن نَفسِ ثاوٍ في حِماهُ مُقيمِ

عَن نَفسِ ثاوٍ في حِماهُ مُقيمِ

It is a sanctuary where prayer is now offered

It is sacred, invoked for blessings, for a soul

For the soul of one who rests, abiding within its shelter.

At rest from toil, residing in His protection.

لا غروَ أَن نَزَلَت مَلائكةُ العُلى

لا غروَ أَن نَزَلَت مَلائكةُ العُلى

تَغشاهُ بالرِّضوانِ وَالتَسليمِ

تَغشاهُ بالرِّضوانِ وَالتَسليمِ

No wonder the angels from on high descended,

No wonder the angels of the Highest descend

Enveloping him in divine favor and greetings of peace.

To visit it with goodwill and peace.

فَكَذا المَلائكُ قَبلَ تاريخي لَقَد

فَكَذا المَلائكُ قَبلَ تاريخي لَقَد

جاءَت فَزارَت بَيتَ اِبرهيمِ

جاءَت فَزارَت بَيتَ اِبرهيمِ

So too, before the date I record, the angels indeed

Thus before, the angels had come to visit

Came and visited the house of Abraham.

The house of Abraham, and bless it.
