لَقَدindeed نالَattained نُعمانُNuʿmān المَعاليhigh honors فَأَصبَحَتand so they became
لَقَد نالَ نُعمانُ المَعالي فَأَصبَحَت
وَأَخلاقهُand his virtues كَالزَهرِlike blossoms بِالطَّلِّwith dew يُمطِرُshowers
وَأَخلاقهُ كَالزَهرِ بِالطَّلِّ يُمطِرُ
Nuʿmān has indeed attained high honors, and they have become,
Together with his virtues, like blossoms showering dew.
وَلَمand never يَفتَخِرboasted يَوماًon any day بِهاof them غَيرexcept أَنَّهاthat they
وَلَم يَفتَخِر يَوماً بِها غَير أَنَّها
بِهِin him تَتَباهىglory أَرِّخوهاrecord their date وَتَفخرُand take pride
بِهِ تَتَباهى أَرِّخوها وَتَفخرُ
He has never boasted of them, yet they
Glory in him—record their date—and take pride.
