قَد سارَ جِرجسُ نَحوَ اللَهِ مُنصَرِفاً

قَد سارَ جِرجسُ نَحوَ اللَهِ مُنصَرِفاً

عَن أَرضِنا بِقَضاءِ اللَه وَالقَدرِ

عَن أَرضِنا بِقَضاءِ اللَه وَالقَدرِ

Jirjis has journeyed toward God, departing

From our earth by God's decree and destiny.

ناحَت بَنو فرَجِ اللَهِ الكِرامَ لَهُ

ناحَت بَنو فرَجِ اللَهِ الكِرامَ لَهُ

بِمَدمَعٍ مِثل صَوبِ المُزنِ مُنتَثِرِ

بِمَدمَعٍ مِثل صَوبِ المُزنِ مُنتَثِرِ

The noble sons of Faraj Allah lamented him,

With tears showering down like rain from the clouds.

فَقف بِجانب قَبرٍ حَلَّ تربتَهُ

فَقف بِجانب قَبرٍ حَلَّ تربتَهُ

مُستَسقياً لِثَراهُ باردَ المَطرِ

مُستَسقياً لِثَراهُ باردَ المَطرِ

So stand beside a grave in whose earth he rests,

Imploring cool rain for its soil.

وَقُل ظَفرتُ مِن الباري بِمَرحَمةٍ

وَقُل ظَفرتُ مِن الباري بِمَرحَمةٍ

أَرِّخ فَأَنتَ لَديهِ لابسَ الظَفرِ

أَرِّخ فَأَنتَ لَديهِ لابسَ الظَفرِ

And say, 'I have won mercy from the Creator.'

Record the date: for with Him you are clothed in triumph.
