سنِّ الثَمانِ كَمى قَضى باري الوَرى

سنِّ الثَمانِ كَمى قَضى باري الوَرى

Jawahir departed from the al-Khammar family at

the age of eight, as the Creator of humankind decreed.

فَأَتى مُؤرِّخُها يُسَطِّر قائِلاً

فَأَتى مُؤرِّخُها يُسَطِّر قائِلاً

أَسَفاً عَلى دَفنِ الجَواهرِ في الثَرى

أَسَفاً عَلى دَفنِ الجَواهرِ في الثَرى

Then her chronicler came, inscribing these words:

Alas for the burial of jewels in the dust!
