سُكِبَتwere poured عَلَيهِupon it مَراحِمُthe mercies الرّحمانِof the All-Merciful
For Khalil Basila stands a tomb of honor;
upon it the mercies of the All-Merciful were poured.
غُصنٌa bough لَقَدindeed كَسَرتْهُhas broken it ريحُa wind مَنيَّةٍof death
إنَّindeed الرِّياحَthe winds كَواسِرُbreakers الأَغصانِof boughs
A bough—a wind of death has indeed broken it;
truly, the winds are breakers of boughs.

Alas for a mother whom his tragedy overwhelmed;
and so, mourning him, she became a companion of sorrows.
