and the moon at its fullest falls short of your face.
And your face outshines the full moon

A shapely figure called me to love,
You were called to love by a tall, straight stature
and eyelids that bewitched humankind.
And eyelids with which people were enchanted

When, among the ruins, I pour out what ails me,
When I am alone I pour out my sorrows
and mourn them, the doves exchange laments with me.
And my lamentations humble me

To whom can I complain of what I suffer, when my eye
To whom can I complain of what I suffer
has wronged me, and so passion has grown sweet to me?
And my eyes have brought me tender love
