Oh, what a garden, mirroring paradises!

How many drooping-boughed and swaying trees it holds!

How many boughs of bān and myrtle it holds,

Appearing in the gardens like brides!

How many spreading trees, meadows, and pools it holds,

And water cascading wherever you sit!

How many flowering groves it holds,

And meadows as though made of fine silk!

And as though the clouds had embroidered it—

Nay, the hands of beautiful, unmarried women had embroidered it

With silver, gold, and small pearls,

    And pearls upon green garments.

My mind was bewildered by the beauty of what I beheld within it.

It was adorned with rarities and precious things.

I said: These are the Gardens of Eden, and within them

the Nile's Kawthar waters these plantings.
