1. أَترى متى آتيك ووجهك أنظرُ

    واكون منتصباً ببيتك أَشكرُ

    I wonder, when shall I come to you and behold your face?

    And stand upright in your house, giving thanks,

  2. متمتعاً بجمال وجهك سامعاً

    جوزوا الى فرحي للهيَّا واعبروا

    Delighting in the beauty of your face, hearing:

    "Pass into my joy—[unclear word]—and cross over."

  3. حتَّام بي ظمأٌ وعندك منهلُ

    الخيرات وافرةٌ تفاضُ وتزخرُ

    How long must I thirst, when you have a watering place?

    Good things abound, poured forth and overflowing.

  4. بل ما أَحَبّ مساكن الرب الاله

    وما اعزَّ وما اَلذَّ المنظرُ

    Indeed, how dear are the dwellings of the Lord God,

    And how precious, how delightful is the sight!

  5. طوباهمُ سكان بيتك دائماً

    طول المدى تسبيحهم لا يفترُ

    Blessed are those who dwell always in your house;

    Through all time, their praise never flags.

  6. يا ربِّ أرجو منك يوماً واحداً

    أن تقتبلني في ديارك احشر

    O Lord, I ask of you one single day,

    That you receive me and I be gathered in your dwellings,

  7. كيما اشاهد نور وجهك ظاهراً

    ولكي يظللني خباك الأنور

    So that I may behold the light of your face revealed,

    And so that your radiant tent may shade me,

  8. وتقوم لي من عن يميني حافظاً

    وامام عيني لم أَزل لك ابصر

    And you may stand at my right, guarding me,

    And I may ever behold you before my eyes.

  9. ارجوك تاتيني وعندي تصطفي

    لك منزلاً واليَّ سرَّا تخطر

    I beg you: come to me, and here with me choose

    A dwelling for yourself, and secretly make your way to me,

  10. وتقول هذي راحتي ورضيتها

    أَبداً واسكن ها هنا لا اصدر

    And say, "This is my resting place, and I am pleased with it

    Forever; and I dwell right here, never to depart.

  11. وجعلت هذا القلب موضع راحتي

    ربه أُقيم وفيه جهراً اظهر

    And I have made this heart the place of my rest;

    I, its Lord, dwell and appear openly within it."

  12. ويصير قلبي منزلاً لك طاهراً

    وبغير عيبٍ في سبيلك يعبر

    And my heart becomes a pure dwelling for you,

    And passes along your path without blemish.

  13. وتكون أَنت نصيب قلبي علَّه

    في كل حب غير حبك يكفر

    And may you be my heart's portion, that it may

    Renounce every love other than love for you.

  14. وتميل من طرب اليك جوانحي

    والقلب يحمد والجوارح تشكر

    And in rapture my breast inclines toward you,

    And the heart praises, and the limbs give thanks.

  15. ولي افتحوا باب القداسة قبل ما

    يأتي العروس ودونه يتسكَّر

    And open for me the gate of holiness, before

    The bridegroom comes and it is shut behind him.

  16. هذا هو البيت الذي في ضمنهِ

    خيرٌ يكلّ الوصف عنه ويقصر

    This is the house within which

    Lies goodness before which description tires and falls short.

  17. هذا رجائي ثم هذي غايتي

    القصوى وهذا ما بهِ اتفكر

    This is my hope, and this my goal—

    The ultimate—and this is what I ponder.

  18. هذا منائي ثم هذا مطلبي

    هذا مرادي والذي أَتخير

    This is my wish, and this is what I seek;

    This is my desire and what I choose.

  19. فيه أُبلَّغُ كلَّ ما ارجوهُ من

    خير وأُعطى فوق ما أَتصور

    In it I am granted all I hope for of

    Goodness, and am given more than I imagine.

  20. وبهِ اشاهد كل حسن معجبٍ

    وهناك يسبيني الجمال الأَنور

    And in it I behold every wondrous beauty,

    And there radiant beauty takes me captive.

  21. وهناك خيرات تكل اللسن عن

    اصحائها اذ ليس ممَّا تحصر

    And there are good things tongues cannot

    Count, for they are beyond numbering.

  22. وهناك طغمات الملائك يسترون

    وجوههم من هيبة تتوقر

    And there the ranks of angels veil

    Their faces out of solemn awe.

  23. وهناك سارافيمُ كل دقيقة

    يعطون تسبيحاً جديداً يبهرُ

    And there the seraphim, every minute,

    Offer new praise that dazzles.

  24. وهناك كاروبيم يهتف جمعهم

    قدُّوسٌ أنت الله ربٌّ اقدرُ

    And there the cherubim's company cries out:

    "Holy are you, God, the almighty Lord!"

  25. وهناك قدس القدس هيكل مقدس

    الاقداس يتلوهُ البهاء الأنورُ

    And there is the Holy of Holies, the temple of the Sanctifier

    Of holy things; radiant splendor follows it.

  26. وهنالك الثالوث يظهر نورهُ

    متلألئاً والشمس منه تحقر

    And there the Trinity's light appears,

    Glittering, while the sun is diminished beside it.

  27. وهناك الحمل الذبيح عن الورى

    اضحى يسودُ وانهُ لمظفر

    And there the Lamb, slain for humankind,

    Has come to reign, and he is surely victorious.

  28. وهناك ينبوع الحياة ومصدر

    الفيض الذي خيراتهُ لا تجزر

    And there is the spring of life and the source

    Of the outpouring whose good gifts never ebb.

  29. وهناك من ينبوع جودك استقي

    ماءً ينقي مهجتي ويطهر

    And there, from the spring of your bounty, I draw

    Water that cleanses my soul and purifies it.

  30. ويداي اغسل بالنقاوة عندما

    احتاط مذبحك البهي واشكر

    And I wash my hands in purity when

    I circle your splendid altar and give thanks.

  31. وتقرُّ عيني ثم قلبي يمتلي

    شبعاً اذا ما شام مجدك يظهر

    And my eye is gladdened; then my heart is filled

    With satisfaction when it beholds your glory appearing.
