I said, when my reproacher chided me over the cheek-down—
When blamed for my love-madness, I said:
And on the cheek it is an emblem of love—
"Though passion's imprint is clear on my cheek,
إنَّindeed وردthe rose الرِّياضthe gardens أحسنmost beautiful ماthat
إنَّ ورد الرِّياض أحسن ما
كانit was إذwhen دارcircled حولهaround it الريحانُthe basil
كان إذ دار حوله الريحانُ
Indeed, the rose of the gardens is at its loveliest
The roses that grow in the garden are best
When basil encircles it.
When circled about by sweet basil's reek."
