O my lord, O son of those who were foremost in reaching greatness,

and of those who first championed the monotheistic faith,

through God's light you have no need of any adornment,

and have been clothed, through His good pleasure, in the noblest ornaments.

And your dignity has added glory and awe to kingship,

and granted it a watering place in God's mercy.

And O sun of guidance in a caliphate's sky,

and his sons, the bright, luminous stars, are beheld.

Blessed is He who has shown you in every aspect

beautiful, majestic, sought as a refuge and looked to with hope.

For a sun of guidance in you puts the sun to shame,

and the full moon envies a perfected full moon in you.

When you have clothed the age and its people

in garments of glory that decay cannot touch,

and encircled the necks of kings with favors,

and crowned them with a garlanded crown of glory,

then wear whatever you wish, for the beholder says:

“Blessed be He! How splendid, how radiant, how beautiful!”

Indeed, everyone who has prayed and offered sacrifice, and whoever has supplicated

and stretched out both hands, humbly pleading and imploring—

your existence is an evil in securing his acceptance,

and your generosity enriched his palm, so he performed voluntary devotions.
