O best of those who have ruled over kings!

You gifted me cherries—the fruit of kings.

So their rubies seem as though

You had strung them for us in strands.

    Indeed, when kings reproach,

Their succor lies in placing their hopes in you.

    And likewise, when suppliants complain,

Their wealth lies in asking you.

    For God accepts whoever prays

For your glory, among those on the spiritual path.

May you ever rise as a radiant countenance,

Like the sun at the hour of its decline.
