جَرى به الطائر السعيدُ

جَرى به الطائر السعيدُ

May the new visitor bring you joy—

May the new visitor bring you joy.

The auspicious bird sped him here.

The auspicious bird has borne him along.

جاء مشوقٌ الى مشوقٍ

جاء مشوقٌ الى مشوقٍ

فذا ودُودٌ وذا وَدُودُ

فذا ودُودٌ وذا وَدُودُ

One who yearned has come to one who yearned;

One filled with longing came to another filled with longing.

This one is loving, and that one loving.

So this one is loving, and that one is loving.

يَومُ نعيمٍ وَيومُ لَهوٍ

يَومُ نعيمٍ وَيومُ لَهوٍ

خُصِصتَ فيه بما تريدُ

خُصِصتَ فيه بما تريدُ

A day of bliss, a day of delight,

A day of bliss, and a day of merriment.

In which you are favored with all you desire:

On it, you were favored with what you desire.

إلفٌ مَشوقٌ أتاهُ إلفٌ

إلفٌ مَشوقٌ أتاهُ إلفٌ

فَمُستَفادٌ وَمُستَفيدُ

فَمُستَفادٌ وَمُستَفيدُ

A yearning companion, visited by a companion—

A yearning companion was visited by a companion—

One a gain, and the other a gainer.

Thus one is gained, and one gains.
