ومشمولةٍ في الكأسِ تحسبُ أنها

سماء عقيقٍ زينتْ بكواكبِ

And wine cooled by the north wind in the cup—you would think it

a sky of carnelian adorned with stars.

بنتْ كعبةَ اللذاتِ في حرم الصبا

بنتْ كعبةَ اللذاتِ في حرم الصبا

فحجَّ إليها اللهوُ من كلِّ جانبِ

فحجَّ إليها اللهوُ من كلِّ جانبِ

It built the Kaaba of pleasures in youth’s sacred precinct,

so revelry made pilgrimage to it from every side.
