And the days have left a remnant of me,
like the finest sword, whose cutting edges have not failed it.
وكمand how many منof كميarmored warrior قدindeed تركتI left مجدلاًfelled
وكم من كمي قد تركت مجدلاً
تنوحwail وتبكيand weep معولاتcrying out in grief قرائبهhis kinswomen
تنوح وتبكي معولات قرائبه
And many an armored warrior have I left felled,
his kinswomen wailing and weeping in loud lament.
وكمand how many منof أسيرa captive قدindeed فككتI freed وعائلand a needy man
وكم من أسير قد فككت وعائل
جبرتI aided وقدwhen already أعيتْhad proved fruitless عليهfor him مذاهبهhis paths
جبرت وقد أعيتْ عليه مذاهبه
And many a captive have I freed, and many a needy man
have I aided when all his paths had failed him.
