1. إليك المعذرة يا عالم الحال

    من الأفعال والأقوال والحال

    To You I offer my apology, O Knower of my condition,

    For my deeds, my words, and my state.

  2. فأنت أعلم بما قد كان مني

    بتحقيقه وتفصيله والأجمال

    For You know best what has come from me,

    In its exact nature, its details, and its broad outline.

  3. فيا من قد سترني جد بعفو

    وغفران وإحسان وأفضال

    So, O You who have veiled my faults, be generous with pardon,

    And forgiveness, kindness, and favors.

  4. فأنت المرتجى في كل حال

    إليك الملتجى في المر والحال

    For You are my hope in every condition;

    To You I turn for refuge in the bitter and the sweet.

  5. وياحنان يلمنان يامن

    علينا فضله صيب وهطال

    And O Compassionate One, O Bestower, O You

    Whose bounty falls upon us in showers and torrents.

  6. إليك أشكو من أوزاري وذنبي

    فلست أشكو إلى عم ولا خال

    To You I complain of my burdens and my sin.

    For I complain to neither a paternal nor a maternal uncle,

  7. ولا خلق قريب أو بعيد

    ولا قاض ولا سلطان أووال

    Nor to any creature, near or far,

    Nor to a judge, nor to a sultan or governor.

  8. كفاني علم ربي عن سؤالي

    عن التبيين بالهذيان والقال

    My Lord's knowledge spares me from asking,

    From explaining through babbling and idle talk.

  9. فكم قد جادلي من غير قول

    وكم خير حبا من غير تسآل

    For how often He has given to me without a word,

    And how much good He has bestowed without a plea.

  10. وكم ضر أزاح بمحض فضل

    وأشيالم تكن تخطر على البال

    And how much harm He has removed through sheer grace,

    And things that had never crossed my mind.

  11. فحمد ثم حمد ثم حمد

    لمولانا الكريم المفضل الوال

    So praise, then praise, then praise,

    To our Master, the Generous, the Benefactor, the Ruler.

  12. إلهي سيدي كن لي فإني

    فقير مستجير بك من أهوال

    My God, my Master, stand by me, for I am

    Poor, seeking refuge in You from terrors.

  13. فمن لي ياالكريم الوجه من لي

    إذا خانتني أعمالي والأحوال

    Who, then, is there for me, O Noble of Countenance—who is there for me,

    When my deeds and circumstances betray me?

  14. فكن لي يا عظيم الفضل كن لي

    وهب لي من عظيم أفضالك أفضال

    So stand by me, O You of great bounty, stand by me,

    And grant me favors from Your great bounty.

  15. ولا خيبتن يا مولاي ظني

    ولا كذبت أطماعي والآمال

    And do not disappoint my hope, O my Master,

    Nor belie my longings and hopes.

  16. واختم لي بإحسان وخير

    إذا كلت لنا أعمار وآجال

    And grant me an ending in kindness and goodness,

    When You have measured out lifespans and appointed terms for us.

  17. وصلى الله ربي كل حين

    وسلم مانثنى غصن أو مال

    And may God, my Lord, send blessings at every moment,

    And peace, as long as a branch bends or sways,

  18. على طه المشفع في البرايا

    وأصحابه مع الأنصار والآل

    Upon Ta-Ha, whose intercession for creation is accepted,

    And his companions, together with the Ansar and his family.
