Sol 6.1

  1. يقول طاهر عسى الله يعين

    في ذا الزمان العوف الا كشف

    Tahir says: May God lend help

    in this vile age, nothing but harshness.

  2. زمان بأهله ما هو إلا محين

    معاد حد في الخير له شف

    An age, with all its people, utterly wretched;

    no one any longer has a longing for good.

  3. راحوا قفا ابليس الرجيم اللعين

    قليل ذي منهم تخلف

    They followed Iblis, the accursed, the damned;

    few among them stayed behind.

  4. وعاد أشياغايبه ما تبين

    يعرف لها العاقل إذا أنصف

    And there are still hidden things not yet revealed;

    the discerning recognize them when they judge fairly.

  5. والآن نرجو خالق العالمين

    ندعو عسى ذا الضر يكشف

    And now we hope in the Creator of all worlds;

    we pray that this harm may be lifted.

  6. عسى عسى هذا البلا المبين

    يزول عنا قبل نخسف

    May, may this manifest affliction

    leave us before we are swallowed by the earth.

  7. نطلب من الله الكريم المعين

    من هو بنا أرحم وألطف

    We ask of God, the Generous, the Helper,

    who is most merciful and gentle toward us,

  8. نرجع ونترك ديدن الغافلين

    ونعتكف في خير معكف

    that we return and forsake the ways of the heedless,

    and retreat in devotion to the best retreat.

  9. نتوب توبة توبة الصادقين

    نصوح ما تنفض وتنسف

    We repent with a repentance—the repentance of the truthful—

    sincere, neither undone nor swept away.

  10. والقلب يعمر بالتقى واليقين

    ومن سوى المولى ينظف

    And the heart is filled with piety and certainty,

    and cleansed of all but the Lord.

  11. نصبح ونمسي بالرضا فائزين

    ومن شراب الحب نرشف

    We pass morning and evening, winning His good pleasure,

    and sip from the draught of love.

  12. نزهد في الدنيا مع الزاهدين

    نحظى بصفو ليس يوصف

    We renounce the world with those who renounce it,

    and attain an indescribable purity,

  13. فضلا من الله أرحم الراحمين

    ما هو بجهد الزند والكف

    as grace from God, the most merciful of the merciful,

    not through the effort of forearm and palm.

  14. رجاى في ربي قوى حسين

    في جانب الأعطا وفي الكف

    My hope in my Lord is strong and sound,

    in giving and in withholding.

  15. والخوف للراجين نعم القرين

    فخف الهك صاحبي خف

    And fear is an excellent companion to those who hope;

    so fear your God, my friend—fear Him.

  16. واطلب من الله القوي المتين

    ذي بحر جوده ليس ينشف

    And ask of God, the Strong, the Steadfast,

    whose sea of generosity never dries,

  17. ذي فضله في كل وقت وحين

    هاطل لمن يلقط ويلقف

    whose bounty, at every time and hour,

    pours down for whoever gathers and catches it.

  18. حذار لا تيأس كما الكافرين

    واحذر تخلف أو توقف

    Beware: do not despair like the unbelievers,

    and beware of falling behind or stopping.

  19. واسرح ورح واصبر مع الصابرين

    واطرد وراهم خب والهف

    Go forth and return; be patient with the patient,

    and pursue them—trot and hasten.

  20. وارم الخلائق كلهم أجمعين

    وصف قلبك منهم صف

    Cast aside all created beings, each and every one,

    and purify your heart of them—purify it.

  21. واشرب شراب السادة العارفين

    وحبهم إن فإنك السف

    Drink the draught of the masters who know God,

    and love them, if ... [the remaining wording is unclear].

  22. إن المحبة لأهل عين اليقين

    يسعد بها من كان مشغف

    Indeed, love for those with the eye of certainty

    brings happiness to whoever is enraptured by it.

  23. عسى نكن معهم من الآمنين

    في جاههم تدخل ونلتف

    May we be among the safe together with them;

    by their standing, you enter, and we draw close.

  24. واليوم أخو طاهر مضت له سنين

    والعمر قد صغر وصرف

    And today, Tahir's brother has seen years pass,

    and life has dwindled and been spent,

  25. ولا كسب دنيا ولا حسن دين

    إذا نظر كسبه تحسف

    with neither worldly gain nor goodness in faith;

    when he considers his gains, he regrets them.

  26. فهل ترى من بعد ذا ياظنين

    ينظر إلى قلبي ويلطف

    Then do you think, after this, O one under suspicion,

    He will look upon my heart and show kindness?

  27. أني لارجو خالق العالمين

    يثقل الميزان إن خف

    I surely place my hope in the Creator of all worlds,

    that He will make the balance heavy if it is light,

  28. والكتب يعطينا غدا باليمين

    ويغفر الزله ويرأف

    and give us our records tomorrow in our right hands,

    and forgive our lapse and show compassion.

  29. يا رب كن لي عند رشح الجبين

    والساق بالمساق قد التف

    O Lord, be there for me when sweat beads on the brow,

    and the leg has become entwined as I am driven onward,

  30. والموت قد حان وزاد الأنين

    وليس لي عن ذاك مصرف

    when death is at hand and the groaning grows,

    and I have no escape from that.

  31. مالي سوى وجهك الهي معين

    لست إلى غيره تشوف

    I have no helper but Your face, my God;

    I look expectantly toward no other.

  32. فاختم بخير لي وللمؤمنين

    يا من بكل الخير يعرف

    So grant a good ending to me and the believers,

    O You who are known for all goodness.

  33. بالله بها قولوا جميعا آمين

    عسى بها نسعد ونسعف

    By God, all of you say 'Amen' to this;

    may we be blessed and aided through it,

  34. ببركة أحمد سيد المرسلين

    من قد أتى بالطور واصف

    through the blessing of Ahmad, master of the messengers,

    who came describing the Mount.

  35. صلى وسلم ربنا كل حين

    عليه ما مشجون غطرف

    May our Lord bless and grant peace at every hour

    upon him, as long as a sorrowful one sings out,

  36. والآل والأصحاب والتابعين

    مارعد حن وبرق رفرف

    and upon his family, companions, and followers,

    as long as thunder moans and lightning flutters.
