For what God has chosen for you is better and more praiseworthy.

So cleave to God and leave all besides God; you will be happy.

And acceptance and contentment—their treasure never runs out.

And what has been decreed for you will inevitably come to be.

And what is not yours will run out, even if it is in your possession.

No more toil, worry, sorrow, or drudgery [wording uncertain].

Say to whoever tells you, 'You bundle up a hundred [unclear units] and more':

'We bundle up the arts of learning and remembrance forever' [uncertain reading].

And follow your forebears' way, if you wish to be rightly guided.

So read in The Transparent Jewel and The Necklace, and you will witness

What has come down of their noble deeds, from the townsfolk and the hand [wording unclear].

By God, the Exalted, the Cherished, the Generous, whose oneness is affirmed:

Indeed, I envy none but whoever follows them, and whoever strives

In their lofty way, however much he is hindered,

Uncelebrated all his days, he gives thanks and praise.

And blessings upon Ahmad, who bound against his belly

The stones; and upon his family, the Companions, and whoever has

Walked in their ways, as long as any speaker speaks and recites verse.

Praise God, O Ahmad, if you wish to be praised.
