الحمد لله مسعف كل سائل بسول

وغافر الذنب للعبد الظلوم

Praise be to God, who grants every supplicant his wish,

And forgives the sin of the wrongdoing servant,

وقابل التوب ممن تاب قبل الأفول

ومبتدى بالعطايا يا الجم من غير حول

And accepts repentance from whoever repents before life's sunset,

And first bestows gifts, O tongue-tied one, without any power of yours,

ولا وسيلة ولا حيله سوى محض طول

رباك غذاك بقل لك فنون البقول

Or means or stratagem—only through sheer bounty.

He raised you, nourished you, and grew all kinds of greens for you.

وأعطاك علما وأعمالا وتحسن تقول

تسمع وتبصر وتمشي يا فتى بالرجول

He gave you knowledge and deeds, and you know how to speak.

You hear, see, and walk, O young man, on your feet.

أظهر جميلك وارخى فوق قبحك ذيول

تأكل وتشرب ويخرج وأنت ذاهل ذهول

He revealed your beauty and let trailing hems fall over your ugliness.

You eat and drink, and it comes out, while you remain utterly heedless.

وكم نعم والعبيد الخام عنها غفول

ما يعرف إلا أنه يأكل وأنه يبول

How many blessings! Yet the ignorant servant is heedless of them.

He knows nothing except that he eats and urinates.

يا كل لنوره مع فوفل وسط تانبول

يشكي ويسخط وأصناف النعم به تزول

He chews slaked lime with areca nut inside a betel leaf.

He complains and is discontent, and through him all kinds of blessings are lost.

وذه ذنوب كباير عند أهل العقول

كن عبد مملوك راضي وايش لك من فضول

And these are grave sins in the eyes of people of understanding.

Be a contented bondservant—what have you to do with idle concerns?

الزم لخدمتك واسمع ما إلهك يقول

يا رب يارب امنن بالرضا والقبول

Keep to your service, and listen to what your God says.

O Lord, O Lord, grant Your good pleasure and acceptance,

والعفو عنا وعن أولادنا والأصول

ومن طلب للدعا منا فصل يا وصول

And pardon us, our children, and our forebears,

And whoever asked us to pray—show him favor, O generous Giver.

واغفر وسامح وبرد للوهج والكلول

وامنن بتوبه صحيحه قبل حايل يحول

And forgive, pardon, and bring cooling relief from blazing heat and weariness.

And grant genuine repentance before a barrier intervenes.

وأصلح القلب تصلح به جميع الفصول

يشغل بيده ويترك كل ما هو فضول

And set the heart right; through it all parts will be set right.

He works with his hand and leaves aside all that is needless.

ولا تفتش على من جابصوره حول

وادخله يا رب ياستار بين العدول

And do not pry into whoever comes around in a guise [wording uncertain].

And admit him, O Lord, O Concealer of faults, among the upright.

واختم بخير إذا حان السفر والقفول

بجاه طه وآله والصحاب الفحول

And grant a good ending when departure and return fall due,

By the honored standing of Taha, his family, and the mighty Companions.
