إلى الله أشكو داء قلبي وقالبي

إلى الله أشكو داء قلبي وقالبي

وما بهما من علة ومعايب

وما بهما من علة ومعايب

My God is Allah; I lament the sickness of my heart and frame,

To God I complain of the sickness of my heart and body,

and every ailment and affliction within them.

and whatever ailments and faults are in them both.

قطعت رجائي من جميع الخلائق

قطعت رجائي من جميع الخلائق

وإن كان ذا ود قريب مصاحب

وإن كان ذا ود قريب مصاحب

I have severed my hope from all created beings,

I have cut off my hope from all created beings,

even one who is loving, close, and companionable.

فليس لهم حول ولا قوة ولا

فليس لهم حول ولا قوة ولا

لانفسهم نفع ولا دفع راهب

لانفسهم نفع ولا دفع راهب

For they possess neither might nor strength, nor

For they have neither power nor strength, nor

any benefit for themselves, nor power to repel what inspires dread.

إلى الله ربي أشتكي ما أصابني

وما حل بي أو أختشى من معاطب

My God is Allah, my Lord; I complain of what has befallen me,

of what has come upon me, or of the perils I fear.

الهي مليكي خالقي رازقي الذي

الهي مليكي خالقي رازقي الذي

به دفع مرهوبي وجلب الرغائب

به دفع مرهوبي وجلب الرغائب

My God—my King, Creator, and Provider—is He through whom

what I dread is repelled and cherished desires are attained.

فياحىّ يا قيوم يا ذا العلاويا

فياحىّ يا قيوم يا ذا العلاويا

كثير العطايا من فنون المحابب

كثير العطايا من فنون المحابب

So, O Ever-Living, O Sustainer, O Lord of lofty glories,

So, O Ever-Living, O Sustainer, O Possessor of exaltation, and O

abundant in gifts of every cherished kind:

Giver of abundant gifts of every kind of cherished delight,

تفضل بغفران الذنوب جميعها

تفضل بغفران الذنوب جميعها

واصلاح قلبي مع جميع المآرب

واصلاح قلبي مع جميع المآرب

graciously grant forgiveness for every sin,

graciously grant forgiveness of all sins,

and set my heart aright, together with all my needs.

and the setting right of my heart, together with all my needs.

وأختم بخير منك فضلا ومنة

وأختم بخير منك فضلا ومنة

على عبدك الجاني الكثير المثالب

على عبدك الجاني الكثير المثالب

And seal my life with goodness from You, as grace and favor

And grant a good end, as grace and favor from You,

upon Your sinning servant, so full of faults.

to Your sinning servant, whose faults are many.

فإلى الهي غير جودك ملجأ

فإلى الهي غير جودك ملجأ

ومالي سواك يا كثير المواهب

ومالي سواك يا كثير المواهب

Where, my God, but in Your bounty is there refuge?

So, my God, [I have no] refuge but Your generosity,

I have none but You, O lavish Giver of gifts.

and I have none but You, O Giver of many gifts.

فيا رب يا رحمن مالي حيلة

فيا رب يا رحمن مالي حيلة

ويارب ذا الإحسان ضاقت مذاهبي

ويارب ذا الإحسان ضاقت مذاهبي

O Lord, O All-Merciful, I have no recourse;

So, O Lord, O All-Merciful, I have no means;

O Lord, Possessor of beneficence, my paths have narrowed.

and O Lord of goodness, my paths have narrowed.

فاصلح شؤوني في فنوني جميعها

فاصلح شؤوني في فنوني جميعها

وكن لي الهي حين ألقى لجانبي

وكن لي الهي حين ألقى لجانبي

So set all my affairs aright in every sphere,

So set my affairs right in all my various pursuits,

and be there for me, my God, when I am laid upon my side.

أعوذ بوجه الله من كل ما اختشى

أعوذ بوجه الله من كل ما اختشى

وإحسانه من كل شر وناكب

وإحسانه من كل شر وناكب

I seek refuge in the Face of God from everything I fear,

I seek refuge in the Face of God from all that I fear,

and in His beneficence, from every evil and calamity.

and in His goodness from every evil and calamity.

سألتك لي ربي وكل قرابتي

سألتك لي ربي وكل قرابتي

وأحبابنا والمسلمين الأجانب

وأحبابنا والمسلمين الأجانب

I ask You, my Lord, for myself and all my kin,

I have asked You, my Lord, for myself and all my kin,

for our loved ones and for Muslims outside our kin.

وأستغفر الله العظيم عدادما

وأستغفر الله العظيم عدادما

خلق ربنا في شرقها والمغارب

خلق ربنا في شرقها والمغارب

And I seek Almighty God’s forgiveness as many times as all that

And I ask God the Magnificent for forgiveness, as many times as there are things

our Lord has created in the East and in the western lands.

ويارب صل ثم سلم على الذي

بعثت الينا من لؤي بن غالب

O Lord, bless and then grant peace upon the one whom

And O Lord, bless, then grant peace to the one

You sent to us, of the line of Lu’ayy son of Ghalib,

You sent to us, from the line of Lu'ayy ibn Ghalib,

وأصحابه والآل والتابعين ما

وأصحابه والآل والتابعين ما

تنفس شخص أوحد بالركائب

تنفس شخص أوحد بالركائب

and upon his Companions, the Family, and the Followers, whenever

and his companions, his family, and the followers, as long as

a solitary person draws breath among the mounts.

a person breathes or [chants] to urge the riding camels onward.

ولله ربي الحمد والشكر والثنا

ولله ربي الحمد والشكر والثنا

على نعم لم يحصها عد حاسب

على نعم لم يحصها عد حاسب

To God, my Lord, belong all praise, thanks, and laudation

And to God, my Lord, belong praise, thanks, and acclaim,

for blessings no reckoner’s count could ever number.
