وصيتي يا علي

إليك ارم القيود

My counsel, O Ali,

To you: cast off the shackles.

واسلك سبيل التقى

واسلك سبيل التقى

ولا تعدى الحدود

ولا تعدى الحدود

And follow the path of piety,

And do not overstep the bounds.

بادر وسر يا علي

بادر وسر يا علي

من قبل سكنى اللحود

من قبل سكنى اللحود

Hasten and journey on, O Ali,

Before dwelling in the graves.

وسامع كلام الوجيه

وسامع كلام الوجيه

كلام أهل الشهود

كلام أهل الشهود

And heed the words of the honored one—

The words of those with spiritual vision:

الصالحين الخيار

الصالحين الخيار

الراكعين السجود

الراكعين السجود

The righteous, the best,

Who bow and prostrate.

يابخت من حبهم

يابخت من حبهم

عليه أثرهم يعود

عليه أثرهم يعود

How fortunate is whoever loves them!

Their influence reaches him in turn.

بذكرهم تنزل الرحمه

بذكرهم تنزل الرحمه

ويكفي الحسود

ويكفي الحسود

At their mention, mercy descends,

And the envious are kept at bay.

سرفى طريق لهم

سرفى طريق لهم

إلى الكريم والودود

إلى الكريم والودود

Walk a path of theirs,

To the Generous and All-Loving One.

عسى عسى يا علي

عسى عسى يا علي

نرد ذاك الورود

نرد ذاك الورود

Perhaps, perhaps, O Ali,

We shall reach that watering place.

فإن نذق بلة

فإن نذق بلة

فذاك يوم السعود

فذاك يوم السعود

And if we taste a drop,

Then that is a day of good fortune.

فذكرهم حجة

فذكرهم حجة

على الفؤاد الشرود

على الفؤاد الشرود

For remembering them is proof

Against the wayward heart,

المدعي للصلاح

المدعي للصلاح

وللعيوب جحود

وللعيوب جحود

Which claims righteousness

And stubbornly denies its faults.

يظهر له كذبه

يظهر له كذبه

في نزله والصعود

في نزله والصعود

Its falsehood becomes plain to it

In its descent and ascent.

طوبى لرائيهم

طوبى لرائيهم

لو مرة في الوجود

لو مرة في الوجود

Blessed is the one who sees them,

Even once in this world.

فذاك عبد سعيد

فذاك عبد سعيد

وذاك حقا يسود

وذاك حقا يسود

For that is a fortunate servant,

And he truly rises to eminence.

ثم ادع لي يا علي

ثم ادع لي يا علي

إني صحائفي سود

إني صحائفي سود

Then pray for me, O Ali:

Indeed, my pages are black.

عسى عسى توبة

عسى عسى توبة

بها إلهي يجود

بها إلهي يجود

Perhaps, perhaps, repentance

My God will graciously bestow,

تغفر بها زلتي

تغفر بها زلتي

وفي معادي أسود

وفي معادي أسود

Through which my lapse may be forgiven,

And at my return I may attain honor.

بجاه طه الرسول

بجاه طه الرسول

وآله والجدود

وآله والجدود

By the honored rank of Ta-Ha, the Messenger,

And his family and forefathers.

عليه صلى الإله

عليه صلى الإله

مازار زائر زرود

مازار زائر زرود

May God send blessings upon him,

As long as a visitor visits Zarud.
