فَطَرَبت طَربة فاسق متهتك

وَعَفَفتُ عفة ناسك مُتَحرج

وَعَفَفتُ عفة ناسك مُتَحرج

So I thrilled with the rapture of a shameless libertine,

I was disturbed with the disturbance of a debauched libertine,

And kept the chastity of a scrupulous ascetic.

And I restrained with the chastity of an ascetic filled with shame,

وَاللَهُ يَعلم كَيفَ كانَت عفَتي

وَاللَهُ يَعلم كَيفَ كانَت عفَتي

ما بَينَ خلخال هُناكَ وَدُ ملج

ما بَينَ خلخال هُناكَ وَدُ ملج

And God knows what my chastity was like

And God knows how my chastity was

Between an anklet there and an armlet.

Between the anklet there and the cheek stained with tears.
