O you who ask me of a night of mine gone by,
O you who ask about a night of mine that has passed,
And its delights at Abu al-Jaysh's,
And its pleasures in the camp of my father the general,
وكيفand how غنتshe sang خمرةٌKhamra لاdo not تسلask
غنتshe sang فأغنتناso she spared us عنfrom الخيشthe sackcloth
And how Khamra sang—do not ask!
And how a wine that cannot be exhausted sang,
She sang, sparing us the need for sackcloth.
It sang and made us forget our worries,

One hand on the drum to keep her rhythm,
With one hand on the drum for its rhythm,
And her other hand on the penis.
And its other hand on the pipes,

And sometimes a fart of hers escaped
And perhaps an obscenity escaped its mouth,
From her mouth, laying waste to life.
That purified the bread when it touched it.
