حين سلّ سيف لحظ وسَن

تُركي نفى عني الوَسَن

تُركي نفى عني الوَسَن

When he drew the sword of a drowsy glance,

When the sword of a glance drew

that Turk banished drowsiness from me.

My cheek's down away in one motion

المحبين لك عبيد

المحبين لك عبيد

إلا أنا قال أي وسَن

إلا أنا قال أي وسَن

"Lovers are your slaves—

Lovers are slaves unto you

except me." He said, "Yes—and you too."
