O you to whom, in my verse and prose, are sweet

My praise and thanks among humankind.

And O you who surpass, in honor and good fortune,

In radiance and splendor, the sun and full moon.

And O benevolent one who became a sea of generosity,

May God protect you from land and sea.

And O you who excel in qualities and in name,

For both, when mentioned, are Ahmad—most praiseworthy.

May you live on through feast after feast,

Seeing joy at the feasts of Fast-Breaking and Sacrifice.

You have indeed singled me out with all-embracing generosity,

Which stirred my prayers in folding and unfolding.

And you have shown kindness, first and then again,

With the kindness and wheat you bestowed.

For you I invoke the All-Merciful, then invoke Him again,

With sincerity, in secret and aloud.
