أمي وأبي اثنان من غير أنا

أمي وأبي اثنان من غير أنا

كلا وكلاهما بدار سَكَنا

My mother and my father are two, not counting me.

My mother and father, two without me,

Both—and both of them—lived in a house.

Both settled in an abode.

لكن ميمتي التي قد ولدت

لكن ميمتي التي قد ولدت

لمّا رقدت حدا أبي ونا

لمّا رقدت حدا أبي ونا

But my mommy, who gave birth,

But my soul that was born

When she lay down beside my father and me.

Slept next to my father.
