My friend, I am wounded by your coldness.
My friend, from your injustice I am the forbearing one
And my heart, in loving you, is snake-bitten.
And my heart in loving you is sincere

My eyes, through your beauty, are in gardens of paradise.
My eyes from your beauty are in delight
And my heart, through your coldness, has hell within.
And my heart from your injustice in it is hell

And how much I called my heart away from it
Then your love said, "O lovers!"
But it said, your love O lovers

So be forbearing, like your exalted namesake.
So be like your exalted name, forbearing
For Abraham is oft-sighing and forbearing.
For Abraham, woe to him, was forbearing
