Is that your face that shines or is it the full moon in the dusk?
Or a lightning flash, or the pearls of your mouth in a row?
Or is it lightning or are those your delicate lips that smile?

The moons hide in shyness behind the clouds.

Were fit for nothing but your praise, O man of merit.
Without praising you, O virtuous one, did not meet.

When you resolved to consign the eye to sleeplessness.
When you insisted on keeping the eye awake and restless.

If you had taught your heart the softness of your waist,
You had taught your heart tenderness, I would not have spent the evening anxious.
Or the delicacy of your clothes, you would not have become so restless.

I seek refuge from it with the Lord of mankind and the dawn.
