    الحمار له ذنب

    يعملوه من خشب

    The ostrich has feathers.

    Something dies, and something lives.

  4. وأرى للحشيش

    في الرويسان طيش

    And I see, from hashish,

    Flightiness in little heads.

  5. يا غُصَين أورقا

    فوقه موز قد رقا

    O little branch, grown leafy,

    Above it, bananas have risen.

  6. صار ينادي عليه

    ما بقيت لوبقى

    He began calling out to it:

    “I would not stay if he stayed.”
