قم فاسقنيها قهوة كدم الطلا

يا صاح بالقدح الملا بين الملا

Rise and serve it to me—wine like the blood of young gazelles—

O friend, in a brimming goblet amid the company.

خمراً تظل لها النصارى سجداً

ولها بنو عمران أخلصت الولا

Wine before which Christians remain prostrate,

and to which the sons of Imran have offered sincere devotion.

لو أنها يوماً وقد لعبت بهم

قالت ألست بربكم قالوا بلا

If one day, when it had toyed with them,

it said, “Am I not your Lord?” they would say, “Yes indeed.”
