عَرُسُكُمُ يأَيُّها الشَّرْبُ طَالِقٌ

عَرُسُكُمُ يأَيُّها الشَّرْبُ طَالِقٌ

وإِنَ فَتَنَتْ من حُسْنِها كُلَّ مُجْتَلي

وإِنَ فَتَنَتْ من حُسْنِها كُلَّ مُجْتَلي

Your bride, O drinkers, is divorced,

Your wedding, O intoxicating drink, is annulled

even though she has bewitched every beholder with her beauty.

And even if her beauty tempts every reveler

دَفعْتُ لها عَقْلي ومَالي مُعجَّلاً

دَفعْتُ لها عَقْلي ومَالي مُعجَّلاً

فَقَالَتْ وجنَّاتُ النَعيم مؤَجَّلي

فَقَالَتْ وجنَّاتُ النَعيم مؤَجَّلي

I paid her my reason and my wealth in advance;

I gave her my reason and wealth hastily

so she said, 'And the gardens of bliss are my deferred payment.'

But she said: And the gardens of paradise are delayed for me
