أَرحْ مِسْمَعي من ذكرِ مَنْ لاَ أُحِبُّه

أَرحْ مِسْمَعي من ذكرِ مَنْ لاَ أُحِبُّه

ولا تكسبي آثام غَيْبتِه لَعْنا

ولا تكسبي آثام غَيْبتِه لَعْنا

Spare my ear the mention of one I do not love.

Have mercy on my hearing from mentioning those I do not love

And do not incur the sins of backbiting him through curses.

And do not gain sins from backbiting them curses

ولا تُجر ذكري عند من لا يُحبُّني

فَيغْتَابُني لَفْظاً وتغتابُني مَعْنى

فَيغْتَابُني لَفْظاً وتغتابُني مَعْنى

And do not mention me before one who does not love me,

And do not mention me to those who do not love me
