فتحيّرت أَحْسِب الثغر عِقْدا

فتحيّرت أَحْسِب الثغر عِقْدا

لِسُلَيْمى وأَحْسِبُ العقْد ثَغْرا

لِسُلَيْمى وأَحْسِبُ العقْد ثَغْرا

So I was bewildered, taking the mouth for a necklace

Belonging to Sulayma, and the necklace for a mouth.

فَلَثَمت الجميعَ قطعاً لشكِّي

فَلَثَمت الجميعَ قطعاً لشكِّي

وكذا فعلُ كُلِّ منْ يَتَحرَّى

وكذا فعلُ كُلِّ منْ يَتَحرَّى

So I kissed them both to put an end to my doubt—

And so does everyone who seeks certainty.
