ليَ في كلِّ سَاعةٍ أَلفُ قُبْلَهْ

ليَ في كلِّ سَاعةٍ أَلفُ قُبْلَهْ

لِهلاَلٍ فيه الشموسُ أَهِلَّهْ

لِهلاَلٍ فيه الشموسُ أَهِلَّهْ

Each hour, I have a thousand kisses

Each hour I have a thousand kisses

for a crescent within whom the suns themselves are crescents.

For a crescent moon beside whom the suns are mere crescents.

ومضت لي مِنْ لَيْلَتي تسع سَاعَا

ومضت لي مِنْ لَيْلَتي تسع سَاعَا

تٍ وخَدُّ الْحَبِيبِ باللَّثمْ قِبْله

تٍ وخَدُّ الْحَبِيبِ باللَّثمْ قِبْله

And there passed for me, from my night, nine hour—

And nine hours of my night have passed,

—s; the beloved’s cheek was the qibla of kisses.

While the beloved’s cheek is the prayer-direction for kissing.

وَنسِيتُ الحسابَ شُغْلاً وشكرا

وَنسِيتُ الحسابَ شُغْلاً وشكرا

فاحسبوا كم أَكون قَبَّلْتُ قبْله

فاحسبوا كم أَكون قَبَّلْتُ قبْله

I lost count, absorbed and grateful;

And I forgot the count, engrossed and grateful,

so reckon how many times I had kissed before then.

So reckon how many kisses I have given.
