    ونهرٌ ولكن البحارَ جَدَاوِلُه

    A crescent moon, yet auspicious stars are his stations;

And a river, yet the seas are his streams.

He appeared, and the hopeful were illumined by his light.

At his limpid spring, his watering places are open to them.

He will become a full moon whose setting is not feared,

And become a sea whose shore is unknown.

He strode onward, with God's favor as his guide,

To a house of glory built by his forebears.

And he proved his praisers' words true, for they,

Whenever they describe him, are vindicated by his virtues.

And even if the envious concealed some of his qualities

And his attributes, his bearing would reveal them.

So his throne could almost be seen amid the assembly,

And his petitioner could almost be seen at the gate's threshold.

And his writings are read aloud in the earth's east and west,

And his envoys and dispatches travel throughout it.

And I have said only what the envious man agrees with me

On, its proofs having been confirmed in his eyes.

So glad tidings to you, O lord of humankind, of one arriving,

Whose journey's stages toward glory's summit are folded away.

He came to you, noble in soul and company; for glory

Travels alongside him, and noble deeds ride beside him.

God decreed that he should live on, and you too; and He decreed

For my words: I speak them, and He brings them to pass.

And you are a lord whose will is not denied,

And I am a servant whose entreaties are not refused.

I prayed for what had already come to pass before it was written,

And I was certain that God, beyond doubt, was its speaker.

You will obtain from him everything you desire,

And my soul will obtain from you both what it seeks.

For I am but one exposed to the sun; you are his shade.

And I am but one stricken by drought; you are his downpour.

And time is but a servant; you are its master.

And creation is but a world; you are its paragon.
