  1. ما جئت أسألك المواهب مادحاً

    إني لما أوليتني لشكور

    I have not come praising you to ask you for gifts;

    I am indeed grateful for what you have bestowed upon me.

  2. لكن أتيت عن المعالي مخبراً

    لك أن سعيك عندها مشكور

    Rather, I have come bearing news from the heights of honor,

    to tell you that your striving is appreciated in their eyes.
