عَيناكَyour two eyes أَمكَنَتِgave power الشَيطانَSatan مِنover خَلَدِيmy mind
عَيناكَ أَمكَنَتِ الشَيطانَ مِن خَلَدِي
إِنَّindeed العُيونَthe eyes لَأَعوانُsurely helpers of الشَياطِينِthe devils
إِنَّ العُيونَ لَأَعوانُ الشَياطِينِ
Your eyes gave Satan power over my mind.
Your eyes allowed the devil into my heart
Eyes are indeed the helpers of devils.
Eyes are truly the devils' allies

Many a night I spent curled up in burning anguish,
How many nights have I spent writhing in agony
complaining to the star until it almost complained of me.
Complaining to the stars until they nearly complained of me

Oh, how adorable he is—a gazelle who has bewitched me!
Oh how alluring is the gazelle I am infatuated with
And what creature is not bewitched by a gazelle?
What creature is not infatuated with a gazelle?

He reveals a growth of daisies among a mouth's daughters,
Her mouth blossoms forth plants of cardamom
watered with the like of the grapevines' little daughters,
Watered with the likes of pearls from oysters

With two cheeks that are apples of my eye
So leave everyone else with the apples of the orchards.
So leave me be and the apples in the orchards

The charms of your eyes forbid me and command me,
The allure of your eyes tempts me and commands me
and the roses of your cheeks incite others against me and entice me.
The rose of your cheek entices me and excites me

Indeed, if I sold my faith and bought with it
But if I sold my faith and bought with it
a worldly life, I did not, for your sake, sell faith for anything base.
Worldly goods, I would not have sold my faith for less

I seek God's forgiveness, no, by God, the verses
the verses of Ya-Sin against the sorcery of his eye.
Of her eyelash's sorcery did not benefit me

Glory to Him who created all things
Do you suppose He fashioned that body from clay?
You see He molded that body from clay

And God has said: “There is no compulsion in religion.”
And God has said "No compulsion in religion"

My lord, do not give the enemies cause to gloat over me; and if
My Master, do not let the enemies gloat over me, and if
you forget my words, remember the words of Harun.
You forget my words, recall what Aaron said

Reckon the cost of loving you by what I have spent of my life,
Reckon your desire by what I spent of my life
by God, if my life were Qarun's treasure...
By God, if my life were like Qarun's treasure

If I owned my soul, O you who torment it,
If I had control over myself, oh she who torments it
I would offer it to you as one of the sacrificial offerings.
I would have offered it to you as one of the sacrifices
