ظنناهُ الخليفةَ من أَبيهِ

ظنناهُ الخليفةَ من أَبيهِ

فجاءَ مهجَّناً ضخمَ السِّبالِ

فجاءَ مهجَّناً ضخمَ السِّبالِ

We thought him his father's successor,

We thought him the successor of his father,

but he turned out a mongrel with bushy moustaches,

But he came hybridized with drooping mustache.

صريعاً بين مائِدِةٍ ودنٍ

صريعاً بين مائِدِةٍ ودنٍ

وأَحراجٍ كأَشْدَاقِ الجِمَالِ

وأَحراجٍ كأَشْدَاقِ الجِمَالِ

sprawled between a dining table and a wine jar,

Lying dead between a table and a vat,

and vulvas like the jaws of camels.

And forests like the chins of camels.
