تَخَالَفَ حيَّا وائلٍ فَتَهدَّما

تَخَالَفَ حيَّا وائلٍ فَتَهدَّما

وكان لهم طول التالفِ بانيَا

وكان لهم طول التالفِ بانيَا

Wa’il’s two tribes fell into discord and crumbled.

Opposing lives of Wael caused them to crumble

And long-standing concord had built them up.

Their reconciliation took time to rebuild

ونحن أُناسٌ خيرنا في اجتماعنا

ونحن أُناسٌ خيرنا في اجتماعنا

فزدْ بعضَنا من قُرب بعضٍ تَدانيَا

فزدْ بعضَنا من قُرب بعضٍ تَدانيَا

And we are a people whose welfare lies in our unity.

While we are people whose goodness is in our union

So bring us closer still to one another.

So let us draw even closer in intimacy
