روتْ عنكَ أَخبارُ المعالى محاسناً

روتْ عنكَ أَخبارُ المعالى محاسناً

كَفَتْ بلسان الحالِ عن أَلْسُنِ الحَمْدِ

كَفَتْ بلسان الحالِ عن أَلْسُنِ الحَمْدِ

Reports of lofty deeds have recounted your fine qualities,

News of your virtues told of your beauty

which, through the tongue of circumstance, dispensed with tongues of praise.

Your face sufficed, no need for words of praise

فوجهُكَ عن بشرٍ وكفُّكَ عن عَطا

فوجهُكَ عن بشرٍ وكفُّكَ عن عَطا

وخَلقكَ عن سهلٍ ورأيكَ عن سعْدِ

وخَلقكَ عن سهلٍ ورأيكَ عن سعْدِ

For your face reports from Bishr (good cheer), and your palm from Ata (giving),

Your face gives freely, your palm never closes

and your nature from Sahl (gentleness), and your judgment from Sa'd (good fortune).

Your nature's easy, your wisdom raises
