خَفْfear ياO كريمُnoble one علىfor عِرضٍhonor يدنسُهُsullies it
خَفْ يا كريمُ على عِرضٍ يدنسُهُ
مقالُspeech كلِّevery سيفهٍfool لاnot يقاسُis compared بكاwith you
مقالُ كلِّ سيفهٍ لا يقاسُ بكا
Guard well, noble one, the honor defiled
Fear, O noble one, for honor sullied
by the words of every fool who is no match for you.

اِنindeed الزجاجةَthe glass vessel مهماwhenever كسرِتْis broken سُبِكَتْis recast
اِن الزجاجةَ مهما كسرِتْ سُبِكَتْ
وكمand many a تكَسَّرَshattered دُرٌّpearl ثمthen ماnot سُبِكَاwas recast
وكم تكَسَّرَ دُرٌّ ثم ما سُبِكَا
A glass vessel, however often broken, can be recast;
Indeed, a glass vessel, whenever broken, can be recast;
but many a pearl has shattered, never to be recast.
yet many a pearl has shattered and then was not recast.
