As the mosquito foolishly said to the elephant:
“Stand still: you will find me settled firmly on your back.”

He reproaches me for keeping faith with a companion;
may he not die until he breaks faith and is reproached.

For the difference between me and you is plain:
you coveted, while honor left me nothing to covet.

As for Ibn Hamd, in safeguarding him we did not intend
your ruin, O sapling of a pretender, that you should rage.
